There are several ways to get involved with the FMTA

Join our Board of Directors:

The FMTA’s Board of Directors is made up of 15 volunteers. The Board meets once a month in the downtown Toronto office of the FMTA. Committees meet weekly, and Board members are asked to join at least one committee. Meetings take place on Wednesday evenings. If you have 2 – 4 hours a month (or more if you’re willing) you can make a difference.  If you are a dedicated, passionate, hardworking, progressive person and are willing to help represent over a million tenants, we want your help.

If you are interested in joining the FMTA Board of directors, send your full contact information and short biography via email to membership@torontotenants.org

Become a Member:

  • Members may vote at our Annual General Meeting.  All members may also run for a position on our Board of Directors.
  • Your membership allows us to hear the concerns of tenants in Toronto and to continue to represent tenants' interests.

Become a Volunteer:

  • All of our affiliated Tenant Associations are run by volunteers
  • The FMTA is run by a volunteer board of directors.  The board is elected every year by our members at the Annual General Meeting

Contact a Politician:

Your Member of Parliament and City Councillor work for you, and if you feel that they could do a better job representing tenants, let them know! For more information about the 2007 Provincial Election and a helpful fact-sheet about the state of rental housing in Ontario, click here.
