What We Do

Who We Are

The Federation of Metro Tenants' Associations (FMTA) is a non-profit Organization which advocates for better rights for Tenants.

Founded in 1974, we are the oldest and largest Tenant Federation in Canada.  The FMTA is comprised of affiliated Tenant Associations and of individual Members.  We have over 3,000 members and continue to grow.

Inform and Educate Tenants

  • Our Tenant Hotline offers referrals and information about your rights as a Tenant
  • Our newsletter, The Tenant, brings you news, facts and information about tenant issues
  • Our Outreach & Organizing Team offers a wide variety of workshops on tenant rights

Organize Tenants

  • Organizers are available to meet with the Tenants in your building, and can help you form a Tenants' Association
